The Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has published The Audit Firm Governance Code, which applies to eight audit firms that together audit about 95% of the companies listed on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange. The code aims to set a benchmark for good governance which other audit firms may wish to voluntarily adopt in full or in part.
The code is available on the ICAEW website (PDF) along with an accompanying press release (PDF).
