New government measures to help small and medium companies |

The government has
announced plans to help small and medium sized business. Six steps are to be
taken to assist businesses and encourage entrepreneurship:
- improving access to finance
- opening up government procurement and ensuring prompt payment
- supporting those starting a business
- making sure competition framework helps new companies access existing markets
- providing targeted support to those that have high-growth potential
- ensuring that the government is deliberately reoriented towards their needs
The government has promised to provide targeted help for businesses with high growth potential e.g. energy companies, digital and sustainability. At a cost of £200 million, Technology and innovation centres will be created to “drive innovation and promote commercialisation of ideas”.
